How to Tell If You're a Boring Person, According to Science

In 2021, researchers from the University of Essex, University of Limerick, and the London School of Economics not only wanted to understand the specific traits and behaviors that people perceive to make another person boring, but also how being perceived as a bore could affect a person's social standing.

500 people were asked to rank the behaviors, job titles and hobbies by how boring they perceive them to be. 

The top five most boring jobs were Data Analysis, Accounting, Tax/Insurance, Cleaning and Banking respectively.

This perception is perhaps unfair, as noted by lead researcher Dr. Wijnand Van Tilburg, but can have some real world implications.

"The truth of the matter is people like bankers and accountants are highly capable and have power in society - perhaps we should try not to upset them and stereotype them as boring!," he told the University of Essex.
